RIYADH — The business environment in Saudi Arabia continues to register remarkable growth, with the total number of commercial registrations surpassing 1.9 million. This indicator reflects the expanding base of establishments and the growing level of economic activity across various sectors.
The expansion coincides with the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and modern technologies, which are attracting increasing interest from investors and entrepreneurs, driven by the acceleration of digital transformation, support for innovation programs, and economic diversification.
The Ministry of Commerce revealed that the number of commercial registrations in the Kingdom has risen to more than 1.9 million, comprising 1.3 million for establishments, 599,000 for limited liability companies, and 5,000 for joint-stock companies.
The ministry stated growth in commercial registrations across promising sectors under Vision 2030, with computer programming, information, and communications activities leading the way. This growth coincides with the Year of Artificial Intelligence.
The ministry said that artificial intelligence technologies recorded the highest growth in commercial registrations among these promising sectors, rising by 31 percent to more than 24,000 registrations. The logistics sector recorded 25 percent growth, reaching more than 32,100 registrations. Creative, arts, and entertainment activities also grew by 25 percent, totaling more than 8,600 commercial registrations.
In the electronic games industry, the number of commercial registrations increased by 24 percent, reaching 977. The same percentage increase was recorded in the electronic games industry, also reaching 977 registrations. Cybersecurity, meanwhile, registered 22 percent growth, reaching 11,200 commercial registrations.
The number of commercial registrations in virtual and augmented reality technologies grew by 21 percent, surpassing 13,800. Amusement parks and games recorded a 16 percent increase, with 9,400 new commercial registrations. Financial and insurance activities grew by 12 percent, reaching 16,900 new commercial registrations. E-commerce registrations reached 52,200, representing a 9 percent increase.
The ministry disclosed that 110 pieces of legislation had been reviewed and updated, most notably the Companies Law and its regulations, the Commercial Register and its regulations, the Trade Names Law and its regulations, the Franchise Law and its regulations, and the E-Commerce Law and its regulations.
Other key legislation included the Commercial Courts Law and its regulations, the Law on Securing Rights in Movable Assets and its regulations, the Bankruptcy Law, and the Executive Regulations for the Precious Metals and Gemstones Law.
