Software development is undergoing a radical transformation in its traditional concepts and working methods. Against this backdrop, the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) has issued a guide to vibe coding as a strategic national reference to help developers and specialists make effective use of these emerging technologies. In addition to boosting productivity in software development workflows, the guide sets out practical frameworks to ensure high standards of reliability, quality, and cybersecurity.

The guide comes amid rapid changes in the software development sector and the growing use of generative and agentic AI tools to design digital solutions, write code, and test it. It seeks to help technical teams work more efficiently, accelerate development, and improve the quality of their output.

The guide outlines a practical approach to using AI tools across the stages of software development, from generating ideas and building prototypes to writing, analyzing, and improving code, as well as preparing and automating test cases and analyzing their results. The approach is designed to support the development of more efficient technical solutions.

It also highlights the importance of crafting prompts for AI systems using a clear methodology that defines the role, context, instructions, input data, constraints, and output format. These elements help improve accuracy and reduce errors and unreliable results.

The guide emphasizes that using AI in software development does not diminish the central role of human expertise. Developers remain essential to directing these tools, overseeing their work, reviewing their output, and verifying its quality and reliability before approving it or putting it into operation.

The guide also addresses the main risks and limitations of these technologies, including the possibility of inaccurate results and challenges related to reliability and security. It stresses the need for technical and professional safeguards to ensure the responsible use of AI tools in software development environments.

SDAIA said the guide is part of its efforts to promote the adoption of these technologies through systematic and responsible practices, in conjunction with Saudi Arabia’s Year of Artificial Intelligence 2026. These efforts aim to strengthen the readiness of technical teams, support the growth of the Saudi AI ecosystem, and advance the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The guide is available on SDAIA’s website: ‏https://sdaia.gov.sa/ar/MediaCenter/KnowledgeCenter/ResearchLibrary/VibeCoding-ar.pdf .
