According to recent reports, Apple is testing a major upgrade to Siri which would allow the voice assistant to handle multiple commands in a single request. This update looks to bring the voice assistant closer to the capabilities of AI assistants.

Bloomberg reported the feature being tested would let users bundle tasks including checking weather, creating a calendar event and sending a message into one prompt, rather than issuing individual commands.

The feature is part of Apple’s broader effort to modernise Siri and make it more context-aware by comprehending personal data and on-screen content.

Bloomberg stated Apple is developing the capability for iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 which are expected later this year.

Apple’s development of AI features for Siri has been troubled and plans to launch enhanced capabilities as part of iOS 26.4 in March ran into problems after testing in February revealed performance and reliability problems.

It may provide a preview of the revamped Siri and other Apple Intelligence features at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference on 8 June.

Beyond multi-step commands, Bloomberg reported Apple is also working to make Siri more like a chatbot, along with launching it as a standalone app.

It is also developing web-based summarisation through an internal system known as World Knowledge Answers, expanding third-party app integrations and improving autocorrect with Grammarly-like suggestions.

Bloomberg reported some features are labelled preview, meaning they be branded unfinished and continue Apple’s cautious, staged rollout of AI capabilities.
