Netanyahu warns Iran ceasefire could collapse ‘very soon’

JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Monday that the ceasefire with Iran could collapse “in a very short time,” following failed talks between Washington and Tehran.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said Israel supports a proposed US blockade on Iranian ports set to take effect later in the day, according to Channel 12.

He also revealed he had spoken with US Vice President JD Vance, who emphasized that a key objective is the removal of all enriched nuclear material and ensuring Iran halts enrichment activities.

Netanyahu said the issue is critical for Israel as well.

He claimed that under the ceasefire understanding, the United States and Israel would halt strikes while Iran would reopen access points, adding: “They did not do that.”

The comments came a day after US-Iran talks in Islamabad ended without an agreement, despite efforts to build on a fragile two-week ceasefire reached last week.

The negotiations were aimed at ending the conflict that began on Feb. 28 but concluded with key differences unresolved.
