The coasts of the Farasan Islands in Jazan Region have witnessed frequent dolphin sightings, a captivating natural spectacle that highlights the Red Sea’s rich biodiversity, where these marine mammals are often seen in social groups leaping through the waves, particularly during the early morning and at sunset, offering boaters and nature enthusiasts an exceptional experience in a pristine habitat.
The islands’ clear waters, diverse coral reefs, and abundant food resources provide an ideal ecosystem for dolphin survival and reproduction. As part of a protected nature reserve, the Farasan Islands support a balanced environment that sustains diverse marine life and migratory birds, aligning with the Kingdom’s broader environmental sustainability and quality-of-life goals.
These sightings are increasingly positioning the Farasan Islands as a premier destination for ecotourism and marine adventure. The Saudi Red Sea Authority continues to play a pivotal role in regulating these activities, ensuring that marine tourism grows according to the highest sustainability standards while protecting the region’s natural treasures.
