The first flight carrying beneficiaries of the Makkah Route Initiative from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, via Islamabad International Airport, arrived today at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah.
The initiative provides high-quality services to visitors from participating countries by completing procedures in their home countries, including biometric enrollment, electronic issuance of Hajj visas, and passport procedures after verifying health requirements, in addition to coding and sorting luggage in line with transport and accommodation arrangements.
Pilgrims are then transported directly via designated routes to their residences in Makkah and Madinah, while partner entities handle the delivery of their luggage.
The initiative is implemented by the Ministry of Interior in its eighth year in cooperation with the ministries of foreign affairs, health, Hajj and Umrah, and media, along with the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the General Authority for Awqaf, the Pilgrim Experience Program, and the General Directorate of Passports, in integration with the digital partner stc Group.
Since its launch in 1438 AH (2017), the initiative has served 1,254,994 pilgrims.
