The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) and the Saudi Space Agency (SSA), participated in the 69th session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), held in Vienna from June 10 to 18, 2026.
The Kingdom’s participation reflects its commitment to strengthening international cooperation and promoting the peaceful and sustainable use of outer space, while highlighting its efforts in the space sector and its initiatives related to the committee’s work. These efforts support the use of space technologies in communications and environmental sustainability.
The session reviewed several key topics, including the long-term sustainability of outer space activities, implementation of the Space2030 Agenda, the future role of the committee and its working methods, as well as reports from its Scientific and Technical Subcommittee and Legal Subcommittee.
The Saudi delegation also highlighted the Kingdom’s contributions and its legislative and regulatory efforts in the space sector, including the Space Law project, its implementing regulations, and regulatory documents governing the space sector in Saudi Arabia. In addition, the delegation presented a proposal aimed at enhancing the committee’s working mechanisms and improving its efficiency.
