The art of pottery engraving in Qassim Region serves as a vibrant continuation of a craft heritage deeply rooted in local history. Artisans transform raw clay into unique works of art decorated with motifs inspired by the region’s environment, preserving inherited aesthetics and highlighting Qassim’s cultural identity across generations.

The production process relies on meticulous stages, beginning with shaping the clay and drying it before engraving details using specialized tools. The pieces are then fired in kilns to ensure durability and lock in the artistic designs. Local potter Abdullah Al-Sayigh stated to the Saudi Press Agency that he utilizes robust rock clay due to its strength and interaction with glass glaze coatings, aiming to engrave distinctive Saudi symbols onto his pieces to transform everyday items into contemporary vessels of culture.

Supported by national handicraft development initiatives and specialized cultural festivals, the craft continues to expand its market reach. By blending authenticity with modern innovation, these programs ensure the sustainability of the craft and help pass this artistic legacy on to future generations.
