The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Al-Haditha border crossing thwarted an attempt to smuggle 208,836 amphetamine pills hidden inside a shipment of headbands carried by a truck arriving at the crossing.

ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi stated that the contraband was uncovered during customs inspections using advanced security technologies and scanning equipment. Following the seizure, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, leading to the arrest of the two intended recipients of the shipment inside the Kingdom.

Al-Harbi affirmed that ZATCA remains committed to tightening customs controls over all imports and exports across the Kingdom’s ports. This vigilance aligns with the authority’s core strategic pillar of protecting society from illicit and prohibited goods, achieved through close cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and narcotics control teams.

The authority urged the public to contribute to anti-smuggling efforts by reporting violations in complete confidentiality via the security number 1910, email 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or the international line 009661910, noting that financial rewards are provided for verified tips.
