MAKKAH — The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque continues to enhance services for worshippers at the Grand Mosque through one of the world’s largest cooling systems.

The authority operates an integrated cooling system with a capacity of approximately 155,000 refrigeration tons, maintaining temperatures between 22°C and 24°C throughout the Grand Mosque to ensure maximum comfort, particularly during peak periods and high summer temperatures.
The system also purifies the air with an efficiency rate of up to 95% using advanced air treatment and filtration technologies, helping provide a clean and healthy environment for worshippers.

The cooling network covers nearly 1.5 million square meters, including prayer halls, facilities and courtyards, ensuring the balanced distribution of cooled air across all areas frequented by the Guests of Allah.
The authority said the system reflects its commitment to adopting the latest engineering technologies and enhancing operations and maintenance to accommodate the growing number of worshippers and Umrah performers while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
