VILNUS, Lithuania — The Saudi Biology Team is participating in the 2026 International Biology Olympiad (IBO), held in Vilnius, Lithuania, from July 12 to 19.
With more than 300 students from 78 countries participating, the IBO is the world’s leading competition for secondary school students in the life sciences.
The four secondary school students qualified through an intensive training journey under the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity’s (Mawhiba) International Olympiads Program, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education.
Their preparation included theoretical and practical training forums and camps held both inside and outside the Kingdom, supervised by a select group of national and international experts and trainers.
The students’ qualification journey begins with the National Science and Mathematics Olympiad (NSMO), one of the Kingdom’s primary platforms for identifying gifted students in scientific fields.
Participants then progress through advanced training under Mawhiba’s International Olympiads Program, strengthening their scientific and research capabilities while preparing them to compete at the international level.
The Saudi team’s participation reflects the Kingdom’s investment in young talent and its commitment to advancing science and innovation.
