ANKARA — Chairman of the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Chairman of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) Abdullah Saleh Kamel said that the rapid economic changes taking place today require stronger cooperation among Islamic countries and greater empowerment of the private sector to play a larger role in supporting economic development.

He made the remarks while addressing the 40th meeting of the Islamic Chamber’s Board of Directors and the 72nd meeting of its Finance Committee, held in Ankara on Monday.

In his speech, Kamel highlighted Saudi Arabia’s leading role in promoting economic cooperation among Islamic countries and reaffirmed the Islamic Chamber’s commitment to expanding intra-OIC trade and investment to advance economic integration and create quality opportunities for young people and entrepreneurs.

Kamel headed the Saudi delegation attending the meetings along with the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce Secretary General Sultan Al-Mussallam. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and representatives of federations and chambers from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) attended the meetings.

The meetings reviewed several ICCD initiatives and programs, including the OIC Arbitration Center (OIC-AC), the Saleh Kamel Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development (SKSEED) initiative, and the Islamic Chamber Training Academy (ICTA). Participants also reviewed the experience of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) in supporting the private sector and strengthening the business environment.

The program also included the 72nd meeting of the Finance
Committee, a roundtable on advancing sustainable agriculture, innovation, food security, and growth, as well as panel discussions on innovation and entrepreneurship, empowering male and female entrepreneurs, and strengthening the capacities of chambers of commerce to achieve sustainable economic development.
