AT&T Business recently unveiled a new managed cloud video deployment product designed to help organisations update services. The product works by enabling delivery across various operating environments while reducing the complexity and infrastructure requirements.

The operator stated AT&T Video Intelligence with EdgeVis Cloud supports growing demand for video-enabled operations from businesses and public sector organisations, citing uses including safety, security and near real-time situational awareness.

It explained the service takes its IoT Video Intelligence function from on-site deployments to a more scalable, cloud-managed model.

“Video is one of the most important data streams for businesses and it has to work wherever operations happen”, Lani Ingram, VP of Connected Solutions said, adding AT&T is “helping customers move from fixed, infrastructure-heavy video environments to a more flexible model that can support live visibility, analytics and faster decision-making across the places they operate.”.

An AT&T representative told Mobile World Live the service is cloud-agnostic so it can be customised.

EdgeVis Cloud is based on technology from specialist Digital Barriers and is delivered to customers as a fully managed service, the representative added.

The service runs on mobile, wired and Wi-Fi networks to maintain connections, with bandwidth optimisation employed to improve reliability and secure transmission protocols.

AT&T stated typical hardware requirements are reduced by hosting and maintaining backend server infrastructure in the cloud. The system is compatible with eligible IP cameras, existing video management systems and mobile endpoints running iOS or Android.

It identified potential uses in sectors spanning building, transport, utilities, logistics, retail, temporary events and emergency response.
