RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s land, sea and air customs ports foiled 1,131 smuggling attempts, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced. The seizures included 118 types of narcotic substances, including hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine (shabu), Captagon pills and other illicit drugs. Authorities also intercepted 402 prohibited materials. ZATCA said customs officers also thwarted the smuggling of 2,478 tobacco and tobacco-related products, in addition to 25 cases involving undeclared cash and nine cases involving weapons and related equipment. RIYADH — Saudi Arabia climbed to 13th place among the world’s largest recipients of foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2025, up from 17th in 2024, according to the latest World Investment Report issued by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). MAKKAH — Saudi Arabia recorded a 22.5% increase in Umrah visa arrivals at the start of the 1448H Umrah season, with 931,500 pilgrims entering the Kingdom on Umrah visas between Dhul Hijjah 15 and the end of Muharram, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Pilgrim Experience Program announced.
