RIYADH — Ministers of transport and communications of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states outlined the future work plan with member states to formulate recommendations aimed at strengthening supply chain corridors between member states and mitigating any potential impacts on trade movement and logistics networks.

The extraordinary meeting of the GCC Ministers of Transport and Communications Committee, held via videoconference on Wednesday, discussed the implementation of the directives of the leaders of the GCC states issued at their 19th Consultative Meeting held in Jeddah on April 28, 2026 regarding joint Gulf projects in this field.

Jasem Albudaiwi, secretary general of GCC, said that the ministers commended the initiatives taken by the General Secretariat to commence the implementation of the directives of the Gulf leaders. The committee reviewed the steps and efforts undertaken by the Higher Committee of the GCC General Secretariat.

“The ministers underscored the vital significance of boosting and intensifying joint Gulf efforts, as well as adopting future projects and additional proactive measures to maintain the smooth flow of land, sea, and air transport. This is essential to ensure the sustainability of freight transit and the uninterrupted, efficient operation of vital sectors,” he said.

Albudaiwi expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the GCC ministers of transport and communications for the immense support they have extended to the general secretariat’s higher committee, enabling it to successfully carry out its mandates.
