RIYADH — The National Center for Meteorology forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across Riyadh Region beginning Friday and continuing through Monday, April 27, with heavier showers expected on Friday and Saturday.

The forecast covers Riyadh city, Al-Dilam, Al-Muzahimiyah, Qiddiya, Diriyah, Al-Hariq, Al-Kharj, Hotat Bani Tamim and Rumah.

General Directorate of Civil Defense urged the public to exercise caution, remain in safe areas and avoid flood gatherings, valleys and locations prone to flash floods.

Civil Defense also warned residents not to swim in valleys or floodwaters and to follow official safety instructions issued through media outlets and social media channels.

Authorities said thunderstorms are expected to continue across several regions of the Kingdom until next Tuesday.

In Makkah Region, moderate to heavy rain may lead to flash floods, hail and strong downdraft winds causing dust and reduced visibility.

Affected areas include Turbah, Al-Muwaih, Al-Khurmah, Ranyah, Taif, Maysan and Adham.

In Riyadh Region, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to affect Riyadh city and surrounding governorates, with risks of flooding, hail and dust storms.

Other regions forecast to receive moderate to heavy rain include Qassim, Hail, Madinah, Northern Borders, Al-Jouf, Eastern Province, Al-Baha, Aseer, Jazan and Najran.

Light to moderate rain is also expected in Tabuk Region.

Officials urged residents and motorists to monitor weather updates and comply with emergency guidance.
