The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the Holy Makkah Municipality, announced the continuation of sanitation and environmental health efforts during the 1447 AH Hajj season through an integrated operational system working around the clock to serve pilgrims in Makkah and the holy sites.

The ministry stated that the total volume of waste removed in Makkah since Dhu Al-Qadah 15 exceeded 250,000 tons, with a daily average surpassing 6,000 tons, while more than 16,000 tons were removed in the holy sites during the Hajj season, with a daily average exceeding 200 tons.

It explained that field operations were carried out with the participation of more than 22,000 personnel and 3,000 pieces of equipment and machinery, supported by over 88,000 sanitation units, including containers, compactor units, and underground storage units. These efforts contributed to maintaining a healthy environment and enhancing the efficiency of sanitation and environmental health operations in high-density areas.

The ministry added that field teams continued rapid site rehabilitation efforts in the holy sites following pilgrims’ movement between sites by removing waste, washing locations, and preparing pathways and open areas, as part of ongoing operational plans to ensure continuity of municipal services and prepare the sites to receive pilgrims throughout the various stages of their movement.

The ministry affirmed that sanitation and environmental health efforts were carried out in accordance with integrated operational plans supported by field monitoring rooms operating around the clock, reflecting the scale of work dedicated to serving pilgrims and enabling them to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility.
