RIYADH — The Supreme Judiciary Council meeting discussed several topics related to the development of the judicial process and its efficiency. Minister of Justice and the Council’s Acting President Sheikh Walid Al-Samaani chaired the meeting at the Council’s headquarters in Riyadh on Wednesday.

The Council approved draft regulatory rules governing procedures for forming courts, establishing their circuits, and referring and distributing cases. The rules aimed to enhance governance and institutional maturity in judicial administration, ensure procedural clarity and stability, and improve the efficiency of case distribution and adjudication.

The Council discussed several proposals concerning procedures for appointing judges, aimed at enhancing the quality of the election, training, and development of judicial personnel, as well as improving the governance and effectiveness of technical offices. These efforts support the quality of judicial work and the efficiency of its outcomes.

The Council also discussed the use of artificial intelligence. It reviewed the results of several pilot projects in this field, as well as opportunities to leverage AI to develop and simplify procedures, enhance quality and professional competence, and support data-driven decision-making.

The Council also followed up on the implementation of several of its previous decisions, issued the necessary directives, and took appropriate measures regarding the topics on its agenda, within its jurisdiction to oversee courts, judges, and their work.
