The Saudi Journalists Association organized a lecture and dialogue session with His Excellency Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Secretary General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, under the title: “Saudi Moderation: From Jurisprudential Methodology to Global Leadership”. The event was attended by a number of muftis, scholars, heads of Hajj missions, Islamic news agencies, and prominent media, intellectual, and security leaders.

During the session, His Excellency addressed the concept of moderation in Islam, clarifying its defining characteristics in a context where many claim to follow its path. He also highlighted the role of moderation and balance within Saudi Vision 2030, presenting examples of Saudi Arabia’s well-deserved Islamic leadership in this important field. He emphasized that this leadership stems from the Kingdom’s status as the home of Islam’s qiblah, reflecting its great standing, the importance of its religious reference, and the honor of serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.

Dr. Al-Issa further referred to the significant scholarly presence of the Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia, as reflected in its resolutions, statements, fatwas, and religious guidance. He noted the Council’s strong appreciation for the various Islamic schools of jurisprudence and their scholars, as well as its openness to constructive scholarly dialogue. This, he explained, was clearly demonstrated through the distinguished participation and leadership of the Council’s Chairman and members in both the Makkah Charter conference and the Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought conference, as well as in the work of the Islamic Fiqh Academy affiliated with the Muslim World League, which includes leading muftis and senior scholars from across the Islamic world.
