RIYADH — The Ministry of Health announced that the 2026 Hajj season was entirely free of epidemic outbreaks or public health threats, confirming that the health of the pilgrims remained stable and reassuring. This announcement follows official declarations of the overall success of the Hajj season across all organizational levels.

Minister of Health Fahad Al-Jalajel said that this milestone reflects the deep care the Kingdom’s leadership bestows upon the health and safety of the pilgrims, showcasing the readiness of the health system and its seamless integration with other government agencies. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia recognizes its global responsibility to protect human health during this massive human gathering.

The successful health outcome occurred despite concurrent international health challenges, including global Ebola outbreaks and international cases of Hantavirus. Due to early preparedness, continuous epidemiological surveillance, and heightened readiness, no suspected or confirmed cases of these or other infectious diseases were detected among pilgrims during the season.

The health sector operated around the clock, providing comprehensive preventive, curative, emergency, and awareness services. The ministry commended the unwavering support of the wise leadership and praised the pivotal coordination roles played by the Supreme Hajj Committee, the Permanent Committees for Hajj and Umrah in Makkah and Madinah, healthcare personnel, and security forces in safeguarding the well-being of pilgrims.
