TASHKENT — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Saudi Health Minister Fahad Al-Jalajel in Tashkent on Wednesday during the minister’s official visit to Uzbekistan. The two sides discussed expanding cooperation in healthcare and investment.

AlJalajel conveyed greetings from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, along with their wishes for the president’s continued health and for Uzbekistan’s continued progress and prosperity.

The meeting reviewed the growing bilateral relationship between the two countries and explored ways to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the health and investment sectors.

Discussions focused on several priority areas, including digital transformation, healthcare system development, regulation of the pharmaceutical industry, training and development of healthcare professionals, and plans to establish a multispecialty hospital in Uzbekistan.

The two sides also reviewed the implementation of a memorandum of understanding on health cooperation signed during President Mirziyoyev’s visit to Saudi Arabia in August 2022 and discussed the joint initiatives that have followed.

Several agreements were also signed during Al-Jalajel’s current visit, further strengthening healthcare and investment cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.
