RIYADH — The Muslim World League (MWL) and several Arab countries strongly welcomed the statement issued by UN Security Council members condemning the Houthi militia’s missile attacks against Saudi Arabia since July 13 and attacks against commercial vessels since July 22.
The MWL welcomed the August 7 statement, with Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa stressing the need to adhere to relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, respect Yemen’s sovereignty, and reject actions that threaten regional security and maritime navigation.
Al-Issa reiterated full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to deter aggression, safeguard its security and sovereignty, and protect its citizens and residents. He also reaffirmed support for the legitimate Yemeni government and international efforts to achieve security, stability, and peace in Yemen.
Kuwait also welcomed the statement, with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighting its emphasis on upholding international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, and respecting Yemen’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
Kuwait reiterated its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty and security, while rejecting actions that threaten regional security and the rights and freedoms of maritime navigation.
It also reaffirmed its support for the legitimate Yemeni government and the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s special envoy for Yemen to achieve peace, security, and stability in the country.
Jordan also welcomed the UN Security Council statement. Its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates highlighted the emphasis on upholding international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, and rejecting actions that threaten regional security and freedom of navigation.
Jordan reiterated its unwavering support for Saudi Arabia and all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and stability, as well as protect the safety of its citizens and residents.
Bahrain similarly welcomed the statement, with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighting its emphasis on upholding international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, respecting Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity, and protecting freedom of maritime navigation.
Bahrain reiterated its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, stability, and vital interests, stressing that Saudi Arabia’s security and stability are integral to the security of Bahrain and all Gulf states.
It also praised Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic, developmental, and humanitarian efforts toward achieving a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Yemen, as well as its role in establishing the Multinational Maritime Defense Coalition to enhance maritime security, protect international trade and freedom of navigation, and safeguard global energy supplies.
Qatar also welcomed the statement, with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighting the emphasis on upholding international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, and rejecting actions that threaten regional security and undermine the rights and freedoms of maritime navigation.
Qatar reiterated its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty and security, stressing that Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of the security of Qatar and all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
