Minister of Endowments of the Syrian Arab Republic Dr. Mohammad Abu Al-Khair Shukri, General Authority for Awqaf Governor Emad bin Saleh Al-Kharashi, and Chairman of the Saudi-Syrian Business Council Mohammad Abunayyan held a tripartite meeting at the headquarters of the authority. The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation and shared opportunities in the waqf sector, as well as ways to strengthen partnership and exchange expertise and knowledge between the two sides.

The meeting came at the conclusion of the Syrian minister of endowments’ two-day visit to the authority, during which he and his accompanying delegation reviewed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s experience in regulating, developing, and digitizing services in the waqf sector, as well as key practices in governance, oversight and supervision, development of assets and investment of waqf funds, digital transformation, and empowerment of waqf entities.

The visit program included meetings with the authority’s leaders and a number of specialists, in addition to specialized sessions and workshops that showcased the authority’s experience in developing the waqf sector, along with a number of waqf initiatives, models, and practices.
