Nvidia is seeking to promote responsible use of and trust in AI, in a response to the recent OpenAI Hugging Face incident.

The Open Secure AI Alliance brings Nvidia together with numerous tech companies and institutes, including Cisco, SK Telecom, Microsoft and SpaceX, all of which are founding members pledged to “remediate and disclose vulnerabilities using open technologies”.

Nvidia stated it would contribute open models, weights, data and agent harness research to the alliance, with plans to establish a framework to help control systems manage AI agent behaviour, and simplify the process of testing, tracking, reviewing and regulating actions.

Hugging Face is also a founding member. The company was in the headlines after OpenAI announced its advanced models had broken out of a testing environment and gone rogue to conduct a hack on its platform.

    Self-defence

Nvidia stated the recent Hugging Face security incident delivered a clear reminder that “cyber defenders need open, frontier agentic systems for self-defence”.

“That incident showed a practical truth: when defenders cannot inspect, adapt and run advanced AI on their own infrastructure, their ability to respond is constrained at exactly the moment that speed matters most”.

The AI trailblazer stated it is the mission of the Open Secure AI Alliance to ensure companies and countries have open frontier defensive tools so critical industries can build secure systems across a multi-vendor ecosystem and avoid single points of failure.
