RIYADH — The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the Holy Makkah Municipality, has announced the successful execution of its operational plan for the 2026 Hajj season. The plan was undertaken by a specialized workforce of over 22,000 personnel and supported by 3,000 pieces of equipment and machinery operating around the clock across Makkah and the holy sites.

Ministry spokesperson Mohammed Al Rasasimah said that specialized teams conducted over 38,000 inspection visits to catering kitchens and food establishments in Makkah and the holy sites, testing more than 5,000 food samples through field and fixed laboratories. Zero cases of food poisoning were recorded during the entire 2026 Hajj season.

He said that cleaning and environmental sanitation efforts resulted in the removal of over 250,000 tons of waste in Makkah since Dhul Qada 15, with an average of more than 6,000 tons daily. Additionally, over 16,000 tons of waste were cleared from the holy sites, with an average of more than 200 tons per day.

The season also witnessed the participation of more than 21,000 male and female volunteers who supported field, organizational, and awareness services. Their efforts included providing guidance, managing crowds, and distributing water, umbrellas, and gifts to enhance the overall experience for pilgrims.
