The sports sector, under the initiatives of the Quality of Life Program, achieved significant milestones in 2025, surpassing targets across several key performance indicators while launching strategic initiatives that helped promote healthier lifestyles and expand participation in sports.

The sports sector also expanded the network of sports venues and facilities. The number of venues hosting community events and programs organized by the Saudi Sports for All Federation reached 3,285, more than doubling the target of 1,184, reflecting growing support from public and private venues for sports participation across the Kingdom.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sport issued 4,228 licenses for private sports facilities, exceeding its target of 4,000.

In terms of physical activity, 59.1% of adults aged 18 and above met the recommended 150 minutes of weekly physical activity, surpassing the target of 55%.

Among children and adolescents aged 5 to 17, the share achieving 60 minutes of daily physical activity rose to 19%, exceeding the 12% target, reflecting growing public awareness of the importance of sports and healthy lifestyles across all age groups.

On the strategic initiatives front, more than 650 new sports groups were launched through the Sports for All app during the year, benefiting over 22,000 participants. This brought the total number of sports groups established since the initiative’s launch to more than 9,000, serving over 230,000 beneficiaries.

Internationally, Saudi athletes won 34 medals in global competitions – 10 gold, nine silver, and 15 bronze – across para athletics, para powerlifting, coastal rowing, taekwondo, and judo. The achievements were attributed to the provision of specialized equipment, domestic and overseas training camps, and comprehensive support for participation in international competitions, enabling athletes to compete at the highest level and strengthening Saudi Arabia’s presence on the global sporting stage.

These achievements reflect the sports sector’s continued progress in expanding infrastructure and community participation, supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to increase physical activity rates and promote healthier lifestyles across society.
